new front door - looking for stores that also install
We're in the market for a new front door. We're shopping for a fiberglass door, either half or two thirds glass, from a store locally that installs as well.
Anyone have any recos for us? We've been to a few stores in the area (south shore, nassau) but we want to check out a few more as well.
Thanks!

We replaced our door and two side-lights back in 2001. I remember looking around and we ended up back at Home Depot with the best price. The door, 2 side-lights and installation was about $1400.
You should come in much less than that without side-lights.

Re: new front door - looking for stores that also install
Lowe's also does front door installations. My IL's had it done by them and the installation guy was really good.
However, Lowe's has a rotating list of guys they have on call, so you get whoever is next - and my IL's heard from the salesman that some are better than others. I would think HD is the same, but I don't know for sure. Maybe price out getting the door only from them and then a handy man to install the door?
We can probably give you the name of the guy that installed all our interior doors and moulding - he was really good and our old landlord uses him to flip houses. (that's how we found him)

Re: new front door - looking for stores that also install
thanks guys. But DH and I try and avoid HD and Lowes like the plague for these types of things I have heard they do not carry the highest quality of doors (and we need better quality so it's more energy efficient) and I cannot take a chance with someone who doesn't know what they're doing with installations.
I always like going to the smaller stores better - their c/s is usually good too. But I'm finding many smaller chains don't install either (Windowrama, etc).
The hunt continues!

we bought our door at Lowes but had a private installer do it. He is really good. He not only did our front door but all of our interior doors also.
Let me know if you want his info.

Lowes carries Therma-Tru doors which are the same exact doors you would get if you bought them elsewhere.
I bought my front door from Lowes (had a 10% coupon) and had a private installer put it in.

I will FM you the name of the place we used in Nassau. They sell very high quality doors, custom doors, etc. We had sidelights and a door put in, as well as windows, siding, etc done by this company.
The doors they sell are Guardian and www.precisionentry.com
