Department of Motor Vehicles
The plan to require all current vehicle registrants to obtain new license plates when their registrations expire has been cancelled. This means you will not be required to purchase new plates when you renew your registration.

The state lifted the requirement a while back - at least June. Now you have a choice to keep your current plates or get the new ones when you get the notice register/update registration for your car.

Really? like them - they are the retro plates - looked how plates were when I was a kid, they came on the Camaro when I got it in October. I love how it looks on the car.

DH had to renew not that long ago and to keep his current plates was cheaper than getting the new ones.
