New Here

Hello all, this is my first post over here, used to be on LIW.

Anyway, I have been married 6 months and we have decided that we are going to start ttc in August, I know it seems far away lol

I was wondering if there was anything I need to be doing or my dh that is important prior to ttc.

I got my prescription for pre natal vitamins and will start taking them in February.

BTW I am 30 and dh is 37, sometimes I worry about our ages.

Thanks in advance
Jess

Welcome. I would suggest to start to pay attention to your body. Start to learn the signs it gives off when you are ovulating and when you get AF.

It might be helpful to try temping for a few months so that you can really get in tune with your body. It can be a little overwhelming at first, but is pretty simple once you get into it.

Do you know when your last periods have been? You can join a website like fertilityfriend.com and put in your last maybe 6 months (or however many you have so far) of periods and that will help you get an idea of your cycle length. Then you can also start keeping track of your body's own symptoms, like CM and cramping.

I wrote a thread that's pinned to the top of the forum that might help you just to get started.

Best of luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I read your post and it was great, thank you.

I am pretty regular and have been keeping track the past few months.

I am prettty sure I ovulate on day 10, does that seem to early? I know most of my friends ovulate around day 14 or so.

What makes you think you ovulate on day 10?

How long are your cycles?

I think I ovulate on day 10 b/c thats when the discharge starts (sorry not familiar with all the lingo yet) It usually lasts about 3 days.

My cycle is 28 days

What kind of discharge? Is it the consistency of egg-whites?

If so, that's what we call EWCM (egg white cervical mucous). That means that O is coming..

You can get that up to 5 days before O, but most likely 2-3 days before.

Yes, it is EWCM. But if ovulation usually starts 2-3 days AFTER that, is there a tell tale way to know.

I thought ovulation was as soon as you started the EWCMChat Icon

You can't pinpoint the exact date without temping or having an ultrasound/bloodwork done.

OPKs will give you an approximate date (+ or - 1day).

EWCM means that O is coming...

Glad to hear you guys are doing well. My dh is still doing mortgages but now he is a realtor as well selling mostly forclosed homes.

We are hoping to buy a house this summer.

BTW, I saw deacon Jack, his son goes to my school and he was there for conferences and came to my room to say hello, so funny, especially since we haven't been to church since the weddingChat Icon

TTC if you are TTC obviously. NFR is probably the most active board here.

I go on Food & Recipes, Fashion, Celeb, Home, Relationships...

Re: New Here

Good luck in August! I would say just make sure you are taking care of your body in the mean time aside from what the pp's suggested.

ETS: Oh and maybe get yourself to the dentist for a checkup. I wish I had gone before we started to TTC. Turns out I may have a gum issue now and I wish I had taken care of that earlier!

Re: New Here

Welcome! I would start a prenatal 3 months prior to TTC. Also get your OB to prescribe folic acid.

Monitor your cycles now-the more you know, the better you are.

I am in love with fertilityfriend.com-they are informative (mostly if you use temping, which is cheaper, but you have to temp at the same time daily before you get out of bed.)

This will give you helpful insight.

Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
