New Homeowner and need to know

What are the things I need to start doing with respects to Chimney, Septic Tank, Gutters being cleaned, etc...

Only thing I got done was the Oil/Boiler, but I know there is a ton of other Maintenance things I have to start getting on.

Thanks Ladies.

Re: New Homeowner and need to know

I had the entire place professionally cleaned before we moved in - including carpets. I am trying to find a reasonable price to have the air ducts cleaned (we have forced hot air heating) and the chimney cleaned.

Re: New Homeowner and need to know

Clean the traps under the sinks and if you have a basement the trap for the shower, make sure outside valves are shutoff and drained (garden hose) , get the chimney cleaned and make sure you have a cap on top, I'm sure I will think of more as "Wiffey" said.

Re: New Homeowner and need to know

If you have central air/heat change filters, icemaker filter on fridge, cover in-wall air conditioners or remove window units. Check all faucets valves etc for leaks, check windows for drafts, replace lightbulbs with compact flourencents on no dimming fixtures, vacuum baseboard heaters, clean gutters and make sure water is flowing down. Replace old thermostats with programmable digital units.Chat Icon
