New hot water heater!
Not the most exciting thing to talk about, but our old (I think around 20 years... ) water heater finally gave up. The bottom was rusted out, and was leaking pretty bad. Our next-door neighbor owns a company that installs water heaters, so they came today and installed a bigger, better, more efficient one (that doesn't leak! )
That was DW and my present to each other this year.... the joys of home ownership.....

Merry Christmas to you. I hope you enjoy it as much as the window and bucket of spackle I received for my birthday.

Is it a tankless one? WE got one in June and it was the most exciting thing!

Re: New hot water heater!
I actually thought oooOOOoooh when I saw your subject line. Seriously. So I must be just as delusional as you.
Ours is also 20 years old and I did spot a puddle under it the other day. We were thinking about doing the same in the next couple of years. If you wouldn't mind FM'ing me your neighbor's info, I'll look them up when it's time for us too.
Did you go for a higher capacity? Do you see a difference with the water, or is it mainly the peace of mind you like?
Congrats.

I am with you. DH & I replaced our entire heating system & the hot water tank 3 weeks before Christmas! It was our present too...Thankfully, we are running much more efficiently

No, 75 gallon tank. I'm very interested in the tankless, but I still want to do more research. I'm just concerned about taking a shower while the dishwasher or washing machine is going. The tankless heaters have a limit of how much hot water they can pump out. Next time around, I may go tankless, or at least get a smaller tank, and have supplemental tankless heaters near the bathrooms.
