New Hyde Park Help (Estate Sale)
Need you help ladies. My sister and I will be doing an estate sale at my late Nana's house in New Hyde Park.
Question for you, we are experts at Suffolk Garage Sales. This will be different.
Can I put up signs to advertise in New Hyde Park? I've been there a million times and haven't seen many sales (unlike Suffolk where every weekend there is signs). Is this frowned apon? Do I need a permit?
Also, next question, do you know of a soup kitchen or church I can drop off a lot of non-perishable foods?
Thanks!

st vincent de paul should take the non pershibale items. you probably should contact the church in new hyde park for their st vincent de paul society. i can't think of the rc church right now.

Re: New Hyde Park Help (Estate Sale)
Hi! I grew up in North NHP and my parents still live there. Not sure if that's were you are talking about. It is ok to post signs- usually people put them along Lakeville Road and New Hyde Park Rd. You can put a sign in the Parkville Library and one in the LA Fitness on Union Tpk. because a lot of people from the neighborhood go there. That's what i can think of off the top of my head.

Re: New Hyde Park Help (Estate Sale)
I grew up in NHP (folks are still there) Don't remember any rule about putting up signs...i would just take them down when you are done. My friend had a GS years ago & we did this...she had a huge turnout. There are two churches on NHP road..Trinity Lutheran (my old church) and Notre Dame that may take stuff too..
Trinity Lutheran Link... Good luck & sorry about your Nana

Re: New Hyde Park Help (Estate Sale)
just be careful where you put the signs up. estates are targets for some burglars - thinking that no one lives there.
my neighbor was robbed while he was at his wife's funeral.

NHP is an incorporated village. I would check with the town hall. They are very strict about everything.

Re: New Hyde Park Help (Estate Sale)
i just called the village of NHP since we are having a garage sale soon. they told us nothing on the side walks or lamp post.
i would call them directly to double check. they are very strict around here

only part of it is...the area i grew up in wasn't part of it..so no parking restrictions, etc.
I found a website of the incorporate village area...HTH NHP Inc...
