New Jordan Update - *****???? Wed - Insurance Update

So, the Ped GI called today and spoke to DH (i wasn't home.)
So, one of his stool samples from yesterday tested positive for C-Diff, but one didn't. He prescribed 10 days of Flagyl and a probiotic. Of course I called back but didn't get a call back yet. I REALLY don't want him on 10 days of an antibiotic, three times a day, if we don't have to - now he has to get like medicines shot into his mouth something like 12 times a day!! I am not going to start it until the GI calls me back. We don't understand how one stool sample could test positive, and the other not, so we are going to say we want a fresh diaper tested. Also, so now I don't even know if he truly does have a milk allergy, or has this been C Diff the whole time? And why wasn't he tested for C Diff when we first saw the Ped GI three weeks ago???Chat Icon

Plus, the Elecare, which who knows if we even need nowChat Icon , is making him spit up everywhere!!!! Also, I don't know if this has to do with the Elecare, but last night and tonight he will not go to sleep - I can always put him down and he'll fall asleep - these past two nights - he's been screaming!!!!

Arghhhhhhhh!!!!! Chat Icon

Update - Apria just called - insurance is giving issues - shockerChat Icon Apria has to send all the letters of medical and nutritional necessity and we have to wait. I don't understand this bullcrap - they don't go on this formula unless the must. It's not an option.

Honestly if he does have C Diff in my opinion it is not causing all of those other symptoms he is having. He really sounds like a reflux/milk allergy baby.
Hang in there. It's going to take some time for him to adjust to the Elecare. Believe me I know how awful it is. I dealt with it with both my kids and my son was 10 times worse than DD was. It does get better eventually.

Re: New Jordan Update - *****????

I was just reading about C Diff and they said it's rampant in hospitals and baby nurseries in hospitals. He just sucked down his whole Elecare bottle in 12 minutes so I think he's having a problem with the nipples right now that are too fast.
Ugh - like I said, I am PIZZED - why wasn't he tested for C Diff at our first visit'? How can one sample be positive and one negative? I want some answers!!!!!Chat Icon

To me, he doesn't seem to have C Diff symptoms - he does not have crazy diarrhea - yes, baby poop is loose anyway, but since he started the Alimentum, he only goes once every other day, no fever...

Re: New Jordan Update - *****????

I'm not around much, so I'm sorry I don't know your baby's story. I had c-diff after giving birth to my DD (yes it's most commonly contracted in a hospital.) For me it was the inability to control my bowels. TMI but it was like water all day, no matter what I ate or took. I basically stopped eating and no change. I was a mom of a newborn and let it go on for weeks. UNTIL I couldn't make it to the bathroom anymore. It was horrifying, embarassing, etc. I'm sure you get the point. I was prescribed Flagyl. It is incredibily harsh. It made my tummy hurt bad, but it worked. I really would not give the baby flagyl until you are sure it's c-dif. If he does, then it's necessary.

NOW my DD had a milk allergy and had similar bowel issues, water. No diaper could hold it in. I could see how they could seem similar. She would scream constantly, but wanted to eat and was only quiet while eating, then the screaming would start shortly after. She did much better on nutrimagen (alimentum made her throw up)

My DS had reflux. He couldn't eat. It hurt. He'd eat an ounce at a time all day long. No formula helped him, only prevacid.

What is your son going through?

Re: New Jordan Update - *****????

Charly - they tested ME for C-Diff 3 weeks post-partum because I've had similar stomach issues as you describe - only now I'm almost 11 weeks PPChat Icon They tested me for everything - all tests were negative. They gave me Flagyl anyway - the problems continue...

DS is on Elecare and has been for over 6 months now... he still spits up a lot. I hope to start weaning him off of it soon because I don't know how much more I can take.
