New Kitchen Q tiling floor
If you have had a new kitchen fitted, did you tile the floors before or after it was completed??

Re: New Kitchen Q tiling floor
This was the order of events for my kitchen:
gutted kitchen all new electrical, moved heat, replaced widow etc. replaced sheetrock and spackled TILE floor- entire thing cabinets and hardware appliances granite, sink and sink fixtures backsplash finished lighting under cabinets and other task lights tiled backsplash painted
You really want them to tile first so there is a nice even level surface for your cabinets etc. I know it means buying extra tile you will never seen
Oh, we did it this way with both of our kitchen redos.

I agree - tile first. Your floor will be level for all your appliances, and should you decide to move anything you know there will be tile where you need it.

What happens if you are keeping your cabinets?

Re: New Kitchen Q tiling floor
This is very interesting, I have seen about 7 kitchen people and all of them have said to do the tiling last...that the legs of the cabinets are put onto shims and you can put the tiles under them, OR you can tile the main bit and not tile underneath the cabinets...
Whats a girl to do??

We did it both ways (that sounds kind of kinky, huh? ). With our first house, we gutted the kitchen, installed the cabinets and then tiled the kitchen. With our new house we gutted the kitchen, tiled the floors and then installed the cabinets. Honestly, I don't think either way was better or worse, although I have to say, it was definitely easier painting the first kitchen BEFORE the tiles were down. This time I had the fear of god instilled in me so I had to put layers of plastic over the tiles while painting.
With both kitchens we tiled the main part, but not underneath the cabinets... the legs of the cabinets will adjust individually so it's ok if the floor is uneven

Re: New Kitchen Q tiling floor
We did it in the same order as was posted above except we painted before we put ther cabinets up because it took us almost a year to find a tile for the blacksplash that we liked and we didnt want to see sheet rock so it was painted.
