new kitten owner-needs advice!
I am so thrilled to have a kitten-he's 8 months old and VERY social! he meows a lot and was even palced in a room with shy cats b/c he's so friendly! DH stayed home with him today b/c he was so upset last night-he had us up at 3:30-b/c he wouldn't stop crying, plus he puked and went to the bathroom on the way home.. I felt so bad for him!!
ANyway, I am really nervous about keeping him home.. I don't want him to get too lonely.. the good thing is that I work in the area, so I could come home and check-in, do you think I should for this week at least? Or, is it beter for him to just used to being alone? ANy advice would be appreciated!! I feel so abd leaving him after he's been used to having cats/people around him for 8 months!
TIA!

Try leaving a TV on. My sister does this for her cats & it does wonders for my dogs. They think the voices are people walking around the house. I leave mine on Animal Planet

Re: new kitten owner-needs advice!
also try toys that are interactive. things the kitten can play with to entertain itself.
I would advise removing them when you're home so they recongize its only there when youre not.
i had an overactive kitty but we lost him last jan to a disease. He was supposed to be the companion to our lay back cat.
after he was gone, our big guy started to miss him. Now we have bonnie and clyde and they keep eachother company as well as our big guy buddy.
good luck

Def do this. Also, leave a light on for him and leave plenty of toys out for him to entertain himself with.
Go to the local grocery/drug store and get boxes-small ones, big ones shoe boxes. Whatever you can find. Cats love boxes. You can also sprinkle some cat nip in them.
Remember- cats get tired of the same thing. SO try to rotate their toys and get new boxes every couple of days.
Good luck.
