new moms... how did life change after DC?

did it change for better or worse? how is your relationship with your DH?

Hi - I can tell you for DH and I, I think we grew even closer after DD was born. I was in awe of him and how he was with her, and we worked well together, learned to communicate more and help each other. In general, DD definitely made life better in a different way, then it was before she arrived.

I don't know if I am considered a new mom...DS is 15 months. My relationship with DH was great before DS and so much better after. There is nothing that makes me love my DH more then seeing him with our son.

Well, its true & not for us. Right after DD was born I was never more in love w/ DH....the way he held her & fed her & how he was taking care of me after my CS. Then reality hit for us & for the first 6 months it was truly very tough on our relationship.....the sleepless nights & frustration & learning to care for this little person, it grated on us. It didn't help for us either that during this process we were also buying our first house.

Things got better after 7 or 8 months when she was in a regular routine & we figured out our roles; & also stepped up when the other was tired, etc.

DS is 11 weeks old. How did life change??? Let's see....in the first few weeks you literally have zero personal time for yourself. Your and DH's life revolves around the baby and that's it. DH and I have a very strong relationship and I think it brought us closer. We were forced to work as a team in ways we never had to before. After a few weeks passed and the previous weeks' sleep deprivation hit us, it got tough. I got agitated very easily...BFing was super-tough in the beginning, my hormones were a total rollercoaster, so all in all I was not an easy person to be around. But DH was super patient and put up with it. There were times when I wanted to either throw DH out a window or jump out of it myself (just being totally honest here) but those nights weren't that many, but they did exist.

Overall though it's worth it now, now that we're both much more comfortable with DS, his habits, our sleepless nights are MUCH fewer and far between...I actually eat now (I had no time earlier as DS was having major issues), I'm a much happier person and we're head over heels in love with DS. He smiles at us, laughs, coos, it's amazing. But, those first few weeks are extremely rough. There is nothing that can prepare you for it and it's absolutely the hardest thing we've ever done in our lives so far...but hands down the most rewarding.

it has bought us closer than ever...he is so in love with DD an when I catch him looking at her while she's cuddled in his arms, my heart just melts
