New moms: when do you find time to exercise?

So DD is a little over 3 months now and I have yet to get back into my workout routine. I am desperate to get back into shape but I can't seem to find the time.

I was so eager to workout immediately after (and at that point, DD was sleeping so much so I had the time) but my midwives wanted me to wait until 6 weeks. The DD started staying up longer during the day and I couldn't find the right time.

Should I ask DH or my mom to watch her for an hour so I can work out every other day?

At four and half months I just started back to the Y- they have babysitting and it helps DD to start to be on her own without me.

I waited too long with DD. It took me almost a year to start taking her to the Y. Anyway thats when I find the time. I love the ladies there and I know that when we have another baby I will not wait as long. I would feel totally comfortable leaving an infant with them for an hour to work out.

They really are. I would trust them to come to my house and babysit DD and I love how they know here even though we aren't there every day.

I think it would be great for you and the baby if you had someone watch her and hour every other day. You will feel better, which can only give you more positive energy to share with DD. It will also help DD get used to being with other people.

2 weeks I began going for walks... I do weights when I get the chance - doing bicep curls, kickbacks, etc doesnt take too long to do 3 sets of 10 when he is napping.... Go for long walks, when e is 5 mts old (Sept) I am going back to kickboxing....

Over a year and still have yet to get back to my daily yoga routine... DD keeps me on my toes though so that's enough exercise to keep in shape for now Chat Icon

Re: New moms: when do you find time to exercise?

It took a long time to feel like I had the time and there's still not much time. We take a nice brisk walk in the stroller in the mornings and I've started using my exercise bike while she plays next to me in the basement but she's 11 mos old now and can play by herself for a while.

Re: New moms: when do you find time to exercise?

unless you count running for the train every day (my cardio) and constantly doing "reps" of picking Bella up and putting her down (my weightlifting)
not much....

Re: New moms: when do you find time to exercise?

we are walkers. I was sneaking the stroller into the gym, but stopped doing it.

This morning, for the first time, I was lapped by another mom! Tomorrow morning I am picking up my speed and when I see her again and her black frog, me and josh are going to totally take her. Chat Icon
