New parents Tea at my dd's school

Hello,
My dd just started Pre-K and her school is having a "new parents tea" this evening.
Does anyone know what it's going to be about? I felt silly asking the teacher but I have no idea what it's about. Is it a time to meet the teachers and discuss your children?

The one at my dd's elementary school had the principal talking about the school, the PTA presidents talked and then they answered any questions anyone had.

Don't feel silly asking. If I had to guess they won't talk to you about your child specifically, they prefer to do that 1 on 1 versus in a group setting.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if it was a parent/teacher thing.

I'm a class mom and I am in charge of running the Class Tea. It's just for the parents in our case, and we just go over everything for the school year and let them know what to expect. The teachers are not there (they do a back to school night). Class parents are usually chosen based on the fact that they have older kids in the school. That is why I was chosen for my DD (my son is in 1st grade).
