New Puppy Mouthing and Toddlers?
What was the most effective method to get your puppy to stop mouthing/nipping your toddlers? I know we have to be consistent so I want a real good one cause I have a 3 year old, 2 year old and infant.

IN general the best way i found was to immediately say no, and put a toy in the dogs mouth as soon as it attempts to bite on anything... espeically a person...
that why they learn what is appropriate to put their mouth on

Honestly, it's hard. You can try but a puppy will do it for a long time, they are teething after all. Just as our own babies mouth things when teething, they will too. They will grow out of it though and don't mean any harm.
eta- you will also find their teeth that fell out, around the house.

I agree. Spray the dog in the mouth with bitter apple as soon as it happens. Then give it a toy. Or shake a can of pennies say no firmly and give the dog a chew toy.

Really? Spray bitter apple in the mouth? That seems a bit harsh to me, when they are just teething and doing it for that reason, as well as exploring. Not looking to start any drama, hope you know that. That just seems a bit extreme and possibly unsafe?

No Drama. But i was actually told to do this by my trainer and my vet. Bitter apple wont work unless you spray it in their mouth. It's not toxic at all. Give a little spray in their mouth tell them no and give them a toy. i trained all of my dogs like this. One we're still working one but all the others have no issues with nipping.

Re: New Puppy Mouthing and Toddlers?
I think giving something better to chew on is key as well. Try naturally shed deer antler. My dog loves chewing on them and it saved my furniture. It's great for the teeth and the marrow is healthy for them too. They have to naw at it to get to the good stuff.
