New Speech Therapist - Would this bother you?
DS's DI therapist is the best!!! She is so wonderful with him. DS gets his services at daycare while I"m at work. His therapist calls me after each session to talk about the session. She also writes up notes on the session and leaves me a copy.
DS is now receiving speech with a different therapist that I met today. First of all, last week we were having a lot of problems scheduling the second hour. She wants to do it at noon although I've repeatedly told her that 12-3 is definately out because of DS's lunch and naptime. I know the session would not be effective and since I pay a lot of money out of pocket for this i"m not about to set it up for failure!
So we're still working through the scheduling which might be a deal breaker anyway.
I met her for the first time today and ask her if she could call me after each session. She basically said no and that her notes are thorough enough that she would just be repeating herself. I get where she's coming from, I don't like to do things twice either. She told me that when she comes home from her sessions she has to spend time with her kids. Again, I totally get that. But I sort of feel a little put off because it is part of her role to discuss things with me and not just as a pen pal. I told her that I want to talk to her at least every other week as a compromise and she seemed ok with it but by no means do I think she's going to pick up the phone and call me.
DH said to just wait and see how she does with him. But would this bother you? As with everything with my son...i need to know everything that is going on. And I do relinquish a lot of control by getting services at his daycare but he functions better in the session without me there.

I have learned to "compromise" a bit when it comes to communication. I don't always sessions even when they are at my home. I block time too at lunch. It's DS' nap time. I REFUSE to compromise on that. He still takes naps. I won't make him miserable to accomodate someone's schedule.

I think what you are asking is reasonable. IMO she should be calling you at least once a week to let you know how he is doing and what you should carry over.
