New to infertility issues
My husband and I have been married for 2 years. In June we decided it was time to start a family, so I came of BC, and boy did I not expect what happened next!!
No periods, mood swings, and hot flashes!
Went to the dr. found out my hormones are all out of whack! I have been on BC since I was 17 and I am 26 now. Elevated FSH, low E2. Did Provera with no success. Possible next step is does of estrogen.
Not happy! I am finding it difficult to maintain my normally happy demeanor and positive attitude because I don't know whats going on. I am constantly distracted with anxiety and fears of not being able to have children.
I know there are a lot of options out there that are still available to me, but I can't help but fear the worst. I know I am still knew to this situation but what can I do to keep a positive outlook?
Any positive feedback/comments/experience are welcome!

Re: New to infertility issues
the best advice I can give you is to educate yourself about all of this. Read everything you can get your hands on.
Good luck to you

Re: New to infertility issues
i agree. I had something similar happen and my reg ob/gyn diagnosed me with pcos after bloodwork and sono and said he would give me clomid to induce ovulation or i can go to a RE who deal with this sort of thing all the time. I did not know anything about ttc besides me and dh were ready to have a baby so i decided to stick with my ob.. Wish i went to the re sooner... I wish u lots of luck with ur ttc journey. Hope its short and sweet!

Re: New to infertility issues
It is so hard to deal with and your post actually reminded me of my first post on here. The one thing that helped me was being proactive. Just get a protocal from your doctor. Once you do that, you will feel much better.
Many times, I also wanted to take a break from all of this, but sometimes that made me feel worse..
Good luck!

Re: New to infertility issues
I highly reccomend at least a consult with an RE, unfortunately I wished someone had told me that before I invested 8 months of my reproductive years with an OB who was too over confident, and didnt care for me the way an RE would have ...3 months after being under an RE's care I became pg. with my little guy<-----------------------------------------When a known issue exists and you are ready to begin a family, now is always better than later IMO- they are the specialists...Good Luck !!!

Re: New to infertility issues
First, thank you to all of you who took the time to respond to my situation. The last 4 months have been crazy and hearing all your suggestions and stories definately helps. Gives me a little hope.
I have actually already consulted a RE. I work in the health care field and happen to be very intune with my body, so when things started to go wrong, I picked up on it almost immediately. Saw my OB/GYN who is wonderful. Though he was hesitant, he ran my first batch of hormone testing. When he got my surprising results he referred me right away. I just started with the RE a few weeks ago and we are still in the diagnosis process. That is probably the hardest thing...not knowing what exactly is going on and what is causing it. Its just so hard to be thrown off track when you are so emotionally and mentally ready for something.
All i keep being told is that my FSH is too high for my age. My first reading in August my FSH was 58.5 with an E2 of 12. Not to mention my LH is elevated.
The levels I go earlier this week were an FSH of 70 and an E2 of 33. LH still elevated. I have no clue what i means and I am having anxiety attacks waiting to hear from my dr!
Sorry about that sidebar...but thank you all again. If you have any input on the things I just mentioned, it is more than welcome!

Re: New to infertility issues
Sounds like the exact same experience I had. I had been on the Pill for 10 years, and when I came off of it...nothing.
I started noticing strange things going on...unexplained weight gain (especially after eating carbs), a dark rash around my neck and then, the last straw, I started getting dark hairs on my chin. I posted about it on here, and thank goodness I did, because they said it sounded like PCOS. It was the girls on this board who prompted me to get to an RE to be tested. And sure enough, that's what I have.
Just know that, no matter what the outcome, there ARE options available to you. I thought I was doomed never to have children, but I am due in 9 weeks with our first . Don't lose hope!
Best of luck on your journey!!!!

Thank you SO much!! I have thought of possible PCOS. I research everything online. I should be hearing from my DR today so maybe I will get an answer.
Also, congratulations and good luck to you! Its wonderful to hear success stories.

Re: New to infertility issues
I'm sorry you are here and hope you don't have to stay long. I truly hope your RE is talking to you about your FSH levels. There are ways to bring them down, but yours seem awfully high.
Do a search on here for high FSH, I know you can do daily wheatgrass shots and there are some supplements you can also take to help bring levels down.
Good luck to you!

Re: New to infertility issues
I completely understand your anxiety over all this. I think all of us girls on the IF board can relate to that. And of course its natural to fear the worst...been there done that. But once you get some definitve answers the doctor will you the best plan option for your situation. I'm sure it will work out for you

Re: New to infertility issues
Welcome to the board
It is definitely tough in the beginning, but hopefully you and your doctor can come up with a plan soon.
I also agree with Gerty that your FSH levels seem very high. I would definitely make sure this is being discussed with your doctor.
