New to this board...
This is my first post on this board even though I'm a longtime member. I just got married again this past October and I got pregnant after our first try.
I had a miscarriage last week. After having bloodwork done, the Dr. discovered that my bloodtype is A- and for that reason, I have to get the RhoGam shot. I'm going this Friday. Anyone have any experience with the shot and getting pregnant again, and carrying to term? Also, any bad side effects from it? I'm nervous..
I'm so new to all of this. It's really overwhelming but I'm feeling good and just anxious to try again.
TIA!

I'm very sorry for your loss.
I had the Rhogam shot after my loss last year. I haven't conceived since (I have IF issues) But I know from others who have had to get the shot who went on to have children.
No side effects from the shot at all.

I'm so sorry!!! I have no experience with the rhogam shot as I'm O+. This board has been really helpful for me, these girls are incredible and it really helps to know that they are available to talk and have been through it as well. Stay on this forum and search for the rhogam shot, you might be able to find more information.

Re: New to this board...
Thanks for all of your responses and your support. I'm trying to remain positive. While it wasn't easy (emotionally), I know that it could have always been worse. I wasn't far along at all and had little to no pain. I don't have much experience at this point but I hope I can offer you all as much support as you offered me and everyone else.
thank you!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't have any personal experience with the shot, but I know my mom had to have it when she had me. She's O-negative and I'm O-positive. She went on to have my younger sister without any complications. As I understand it, if the mom's RH type is negative and the baby is positive, there's a risk that the mom will develop antibodies that could attack a future embryo.
When I had my recent chemical, I didn't need the shot because I'm positive.
Hugs to you.

I'm so sorry for your loss
I am A-.
I had to have Rhogam with both of my pregnancies, which were carried to term. There were no side effects that I could tell and it didn't affect me from conceiving again.
Like MrsM stated, it has to do with antibodies developing which could result in future pregnancies being rejected. It shouldn't cause you not to get pregnant or have a viable pregnancy
This is a decent explanation of it all http://www.betterbirth.com/rh-negative

Thanks so much for your response! I'm so happy to hear that you had no problems. I just got the shot. If you don't mind me asking, do you know what blood type your SO/DH is? My doctor suggested we find out my DH's bloodtype in case he is RH negative too. If that's the case, I wouldn't have to get the shot for the the next pregnancy.
