I would have a conversation with his current teacher and ask her how much support does he need I order to function through out the day compared to typically developing peers. If she was a Sp Ed/SEIT then maybe she is able to manage his needs better than a typical preK teacher would. This will obviously be a problem next year when he had a different teacher. You need as much info about his areas of strengths and weakness as possible and you need to understand how these things will impact him in the classroom. It will give you a Better idea of what areas of services ( Speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social skills/play therapy, parent training etc...) and what kind of program (regular Ed w/SEIT, special Ed preK) he will need. I would also get his hearing and vision thoroughly assessed. Everyone needs to determine what is getting in the way of him learning and functioning at school (whether it is a learning issue, medical issue or both) then you can form a plan for what should be done about it (services/placement/goals). You also might want to see a developmental pediatrician or pediatric neurologist to further investigate anything medical...
