New to this board-update

I went to the dr today (should have been 8w) and found out there was no HB and that the baby stopped growing at 6w3d. I had a feeling something wasn't quite right so I'm kind of numb. I'm not really sure what I feel.

She wants me to come back in a week to see if I miscarry naturally. I was in such a daze that I didn't ask any questions.

What is a natural miscarriage like? Is it painful? How long will I bleed for?

I have my BF's bachelorette party this weekend and I'm really nervous that it is going to happen while I'm gone and I'm not going to know what to expect...

Thank you!

Update:

I ended up having a D&C the other day on my Dr's recommendation. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I'm relieved it is finally over and looking forward to getting AF and moving on.

Re: New to this board

First off, I'm so so sorry.

I had a natural miscarriage 2 months ago, it's like having bad cramps and a heavy period. I passed 2 clumps in the same day, my cramps were really bad and then I had bleeding that was heavy for a few days and then light to spotting for another week. I bled for a total of 10 days.

I'm sorry for your loss!

I have had 2 losses this past yr. The first one was similiar to your situation where I received bad news at my sonogram. They had schedule a 2nd sono a few days later to confirm the pregnacy was over...and then I chose to take misoprostrol to have the miscarriage at my home.

My 2nd miscarriage happened naturally. I had no idea it was going to happen, and I was not at home at an airport. Spent over an hr in the bathroom passing everything...it was horrific. Then i still was bleeding lightly for a few days.

After that experience, I would always recommend to anyone a D&C or taking Misoprostal. That way you can have the miscarriage on your time hopefully. It can be a bit more emotional when it happens naturally and you cannot expect when it will happen.

So more or less if you wait for it to happen naturally, it can happen in an hour, days, or weeks. You just need to be prepared for it.

Def call your Dr back, and ask any questions you have. I would ask her about your other options besides miscarrying naturally.

Hope that helps!

I'm so sorry for your loss..Chat Icon It's really a horrible thing. I can understand why you are scared.

I too like Rachel chose to take the meds so that I could be in control of the situation at home.

If you feel confused than I would call your doctor and see what he/she says. My doc said a natural m/c could happen in days or months...so it's kind of tricky.

again I'm sorry. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would call the dr and tell her you are going to be away. My mc was natural and I am lucky I was home. It wasn't painful but I wasn't prepared for the amount of blood and clots. The first few days were heavy and then it tapered off. It lasted a week total.

I agree with the others call your Dr and do what you feel comfortable with. I didn't know all my options at first. I walked around waiting for the world to end... nothing ever happened naturally for me. I had to have an DNC and would do it again god forbid I had too, I had no cramps and very light bleeding. When it was over it was over and I was able to move on ( at least physically).
