New windows?

Does putting in new windows help the value of a house? Thanks!

Re: New windows?

Imo, only if they're good quality. I wouldn't be overly impressed with stock windows, regardless of how new they were.

Re: New windows?

I'd say its more a matter of how much they help...are you asking from an appraisal perspective or a selling perspective?

any thing "new & improved" can help value, but more importantly, are your current windows hurting your value? Are they drafty, fogged up, hard to open?

If your current windows are thermopane and functioning fine, it won't matter that much.

Re: New windows?

I have the old single pane sliding aluminum windows. It's on the to-do list of VALUABLE home improvement to do to the house. We are only doing what would improve the value of the house.

So yes, if it's very old non efficient windows. Otherwise, no.

Re: New windows?

The windows are the original one's and they're the one's that you have to crank open with your hand. Some work, some don't. I was just wondering. Thanks!

I would change them if they don't work.

Re: New windows?

i would put new ones in.. buyers appreciate them..
to be honest- some buyers wouldnt notice the quality as long as they are new.. plus, if they are that old, anything is better than the ones u have now. plus, i'm sure they will be more energy efficient..
