New Year, New Plan....Newbie Intro
Hi Ladies,
I've been on LIFamilies for a few years now and I used to post a lot on this Forum, but after my last IUI ending in a miscarriage, we decided to stop trying for a little while, so I haven't been posting anything on here for a while now, but I do check back every once in a while to see all the updates.
A little about me: Name: Kim Age: 32 DH: James Age: 36 Diagnosis: Severe Male Factor infertility
Story: We've started ttc naturally in 2005, nothing happened, so my doc advised me to have a HSG, so I had an HSG, and they found nothing wrong, so my doc suggested having laposcopic surgery to see if I had endometrisos (sp?). Everything was clear with the laposcopic surgery, After Lapo Surgery my doctor sugguested DH go in for a semen analysis, which came back horrible, he has a horrible count/mobility and testerone level was low, so he underwent a procedure to extract sperm from his teses.
We went to a infertility specialist in 2007. Went through our first IUI in February 2008 (No Meds), Failed. Took off a few months and went through another one in June with Clomid, and back to back, another failed cycle. Took some time off and went through it in May 2009, with clomid, injection day before ovulation and it finally worked, but ended in a miscarriage on June 4th. It was devastating, and we decided to take off for a while.
Which brings me to now.......We've decided to start ttc again with a different doctor and hopefully a different plan. I made an appt. with Dr. Braverman on December 30th. I heard such great things about him and so excited to start trying again in 2011.
Hopefully this will be the year for all of us.
It's truly a gift to come to this board and see how much support and love you women give to each other everyday. I'm honored to be a part of something so special, because I know each of us will have our own little gift one day and treasure it with every piece of our heart.

im a dr. B girl and I LOOOVE him. he is an amazing doctor and a great person. you made a great choice!
i am wondering why you would bother with IUI with severe sperm issues. it seems like you would be a MUCH better candidate for IVF with ICSI. the success rates for that compared to IUI for male factor is significantly improved.
regardless of what route you go, good luck!!

Good luck! I see Dr. B and he's great. We also have severe male factor issues, but I also have PCOS. We are doing IVF with ICSI. My DH has to have his sperm removed via TESA.

First, im not sure why they would send you for exploratory SURGERY before doing a SA!?!?! Second, why they did an IUI with severe MF!?!? I am so sorry you endured all that you have so far, and hope that 2011 brings you a healthy

My husband was giving me a hard time about going for a SA, insisting that there was something wrong with me. I also had a very small cyst on my right ovary, so they were going to remove that during the lapo surgery too. I'm not sure why the doctor put me through IUI's, but his plan did work once, and it is less costly, even though I have $50,000 max fertility insurance. I was just following his instructions and didn't know any better at the time. The only reason why I'm changing doctors is, because I dislike how Clomid reacts to my body (it thins my lining) and the doctor I was going to wanted to do another clomid cycle with the Ovidrel Injection. I wasn't up for it and he just didn't listen to what I wanted. Thank you for your support. I wish you all the best.

I hope your stay here is short I'm a br b patient, have been since I'm 18, he's an amazing dr and will take good care of you. He will take his time with you, really listen to your concerns etc. He will also come up with a protocol fir YOU, he is not a cookie cutter dr IMO and that's one of the things I love. Also his office staff and nurses are amazing! Good luck!
