Re: New Years Eve Food for a Party
I get a bunch of frozen apps from BJs- they have some really tasty, gourmet- like ones- not your usual pigs in blankets (though I love those too!)
I do a hot Buffalo Chicken Dip
Cheeseburger Crescent Ring
And a hot clam dip- its like baked clams without the shell:
1 stick margarine (can use butter) 2 chopped cloves garlic 2 cans minced clams 1 teaspoon parsley 1 teaspoon oregano 1 teaspoon grated cheese 1 cup bread crumbs 1 teaspoon lemon juice 10 drops Tabasco sauce Paprika (optional) (I don't use this) Preheat oven to 350° F. Melt margarine in frying pan and sauté garlic. Add 2 cans of clams with juice. Simmer about 3 minutes. Add dash of lemon juice and Tabasco sauce.

Re: New Years Eve Food for a Party
I definitely agree with the Cheeseburger Crescent Ring, it's a favorite in our house.
Parmesan Bites
Mini Rice Balls
Stuffed Mushrooms
Pizza Cupcakes
Caprese Skewers are easy and delicious.
I'm also a big fan of spinach dip in a bread bowl.

I'm trying to figure out our menu too. I usually make an antipasto platter, buy a sushi boat, wrap tray and a couple of hot dishes. One year I did a taco and nacho bar.
I need some good app ideas. I think I'll try some of the ones suggested. One year I made mini tarts with Brie that were awesome.

Re: New Years Eve Food for a Party
I started this last year and made one for Christmas app and may do again for New Years but I made stromboli! OMG it's so delish! So many combos you can do. I bought dough at a pizzeria, flattened, covered with slices of pepperoni, salami, soppresatta, provolone and mozzarella. Rolled, cut slits, brushed with egg wash, sprinkled sesame seeds and baked until golden. Perfect!
I also love to use pizza dough and make spinoccoli pizza. Then cut into squares.

Another favorite is caramelize some vidalia onions, add a touch of sugar and thyme. Put into phyllo cups and top with goat cheese. Bake like 5 minutes to get the cheese warm and yummy.

Re: New Years Eve Food for a Party
We are huge fans of a cheese platter with all the accompaniments...not the one from the supermarket, but a bunch of interesting cheeses with various crackers, breads, etc. and nuts/dried fruit/fig jam/etc. For a little gathering I had this weekend I did cranberry white stilton, brie, smoked cheddar, aged gouda, and goat cheese...

Those look awesome but there is no way I can handle making my own pretzel dough. I am a terrible baker. I guesstimate too much. LOL
