New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
What are your New Year's Eve plans if any? We have a newborn, and really don't want to drag him out to crowded places yet, so we will probably order in some Indian food and try to watch a movie.
I'm looking for inspiration though--I feel as if we have done nothing special for quite some time now on our birthdays, holidays, etc. Any ideas?
TIA!

New Year's has never been a big one for us. We usually order in dinner, watch a movie and then turn on D!ck Clark right before midnight.

DH, DD and I are staying home. Dont want to risk driving with everyone out there drinking. Were making a steak, and DH will be drinking beers, as i watch.

We're staying in, too. I'm making dinner and then we'll watch a movie. I'll be surprised if I'm still awake at midnight!

Making crab legs and lobster tails with sides to eat after DD goes to bed. I guess I'll pick up some champagne. We'll probably play Smarty Pants on the Wii and catch up on some shows we still have Tivo'd before the new seasons start. Honestly, a perfect night to me. I can stay in PJ's all day if I want.

We're having appetizers all evening. Plenty of finger food, so we can munch all night. Pigs-in-blankets, shrimp cocktail, chips and dip, cheese and crackers, and a bunch of other things that DW is whipping up (most of it is pre-packaged from BJs, so it's not like she's cooking and baking all day... )

I think this might be the first New Year that I'm sleeping during the ball drop. Maybe we'll go to bed early and wake up for it later. Other than that-just a nice dinner.

Re: New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
This year is also the first year that we're staying in...its just too much with a newborn...they get so tired quickly and irritated when thrown off their schedule...we decided to crack open a few of our "cherished" bottles of wine, cook up some good food and get frisky after DS goes to bed... ...brings back the old memories when we were teenagers and couldn't afford to celebrate big.

Re: New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
Having family and friends come to us. I am also doing DHs bday 2nite as well. He was a bit disappointed because its 2 weeks early, but, his real bday is 1-12 and Bryans 1st Bday party is 1-13..I CANNOT have a houseful of company 2 days in a row.
I think he'll get over it. It's the thought that counts right?
Im can't wait.

We won't be doing anything. Probably just order dinner, hang out and watch the ball drop.
I didin't want to take ds anywhere and then have to be on the roads coming home tonight and unfortunately he doens't really sleep very good anywhere else but home.

Re: New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
Okay, so we have good company! Unfortunately, it's still too early to BD--DC was born almost 4 weeks ago.
I doubt we're going to make it to midnight since we were both up a lot last night with DS. So I guess we'll stick with take out, wine, and snuggling with our baby.

Re: New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
DH isn't feeling well so we are just staying in and having a normal night. I'm making dinner (pork chops, nothing special or unusual) and we'll stay up to see the ball drop. We have a bottle of wine in the fridge so maybe we'll have a little toast at midnight but that's it.

Re: New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
Actually, DH is going out! I told him too. My aunt and cousins are coming over (one is going through a separation/divorce) and I didn't want to subject him to 4 girls and one boy. We have a bunch of finger foods, a lot of wine and champagne, and I didn't want to leave Bella.
Our friend is having a party, so he'll be there. I am over NYE, so I am totally fine with it. Especially since he has been doing what I want to do every year since 2002.

Re: New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
I am making dinner now, putting Ella to bed at 7pm and Jake will go down at around 8:30. DH and I will probably crack open some beers and watch some TV. I am going to try and stay up to midnight

Re: New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
I stay in every year. We host NYE for family and a few of my brothers friends. I got platters of appetizers and desserts. Megan has been napping for a LONG TIME so she will be up for midnight I am sure. A few margaritas my dh will whip up and its a perfect night.

Re: New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
My DH is still at work now but when he gets home (hopefully soon!), we'll have Ommaha steaks for dinner. Yes, even the kids will have filet mignon!
My DD is going to bed at 8:30, her normal time. We told my DS (3-1/2) that if he took a nap today (which he did), he can stay up as long as he can last We make a ton of appetizers and have people stop in, if they can. So, we'll see.....

Re: New Year's Eve Plans from Parents Staying Home?
We are staying in. DH has to work until 730 so I just put DS to bed, and I am waiting for DH to come home. I have wine ready and we are going to order some take out. I am sure we will tune into one of the countdown shows and just try to enjoy the night together....
