New Year's Goals

What are your goals for the New Year?

And did you cross any off your list for this past year?

Most of mine were professional.

I got an awesome new job that doesn't even feel like work.

I also finally took my exam after putting it off for a decade and am officially a licensed social worker in NYS.

I also became a certified field instructor, so now teach students as well.

This year, my goals are simple:

Spend less, save more and get back into a healthy routine. Hitting the gym at least 3-4x a week and going back to limiting my carb intake.

I also want to make more of an effort to see my friends more. I feel like I cut myself off from people a lot this year.

I met up with two people last night for dinner and drinks and had a great time.

Start running again. I slacked off when I my son.
Try new recipes and meal plan weekly. I wasn't too consistent and I know it helps.
Invite people over for dinner more.
Spend less, save more!
Buy less, DO more!

Re: New Year's Goals

I want to say YES to my kids more. Life gets so crazy and trying to juggle it all, they get a lot of "not right now", "in a minute", "later", mommy just needs to finish this".

I want to become better at just accepting that not everything is going to get done all the time (and it doesn't have to, laundry can wait) and saying YES to them more often. I am going to start off by 2 times a day when I want to say no to say yes instead and build from there.

Re: New Year's Goals

The kid one is great.

I was just reading an article, that on average, especially for working moms, we spend less than 15 minutes of uninterrupted time with them during the work week.

New Year's Goals

I would like to read more.

Put together a book of family recipes-I've been talking about doing this for like 4 years.

Knit more.

Continue with yoga ( I just started last week and I'm loving it ).

Put more effort into my appearance. I always feel like a bum.

Exactly. I don't doubt it.

I feel like even when I am playing, Im distracted by a million other things. I want to say YES more and when I do, be focused and in the moment.

New Year's Goals

Last year my New Year's goal was to run a 5K, which I accomplished in October. So running another one and beating my time would be nice. This year I am going to work on getting myself out of this holding pattern and change careers.

Re: New Year's Goals

I don't bother with goals/resolutions because I never keep them. My azz is too lazy for stuff like that.

New Year's Goals

Last year my goal was to lose all my baby weight. I did that with the help of weight watchers. Then in the last few months, I've started eating like cr@p again and gained back a few pounds. I'm not overweight, but I can certainly feel the bloat and would like to eat healthier and in normal portions this year. Cook more healthy meals and meal plan weekly. Spend more time with my kids, which will happen come February. I am putting my 2 week notice in in mid January to be a FTSAHM. Get active and start working out again. I haven't been able to really work out since baby # 3 came in 2012. That's about it for 2014.

To not let negative things consume me. To put things in perspective. To be more free-spirited, thankful and positive.
