New York Botanical Gardens
Has anyone ever been to the train show at the NYBG in the Bronx? I'm a member there but I usually only go when it's warm.
I'm trying to figure out if it's enough to warrant going there with my nephew the week after Christmas. We would be interested mostly in taking pictures of everything.
Also, do they have Christmas lights after dark? I seem to remember someone telling me that they have figures of animals and things in white lights throughout the grounds.
Here's there site, if anyone else is interested: New York Botanical Gardens

Re: New York Botanical Gardens
The Bronx Zoo has holiday lights --maybe that's what your friend mentioned.
I dont' rember the Botanical Gardens having lights, but maybe they do now. I went about 4 years a go.
Its not a very large exhibit, but when I went it was crowded, so it took a while to get thouigh ( Its indoors) There were a lot of kids & they seemed to love it.
There were some decorations & things to see outside, but not as much as when the flowers are in bloom. It here there were Christmas trees decorated by local school children outside the train exhibit.

Tricia - I'm uploading pictures now for you. We went the day after Thanksgiving - it wasn't very crowded. Christmas week is definitely busier. If you're not a member, depending on how many people you have going, you should consider the membership. They don't have to wait in line.

Re: New York Botanical Gardens
Thank you! Your pictures are superb! Where was the 7th picture taken? That looks like it's outside, is that right in front of the conservatory?
I have been a member for a few years, its definitely worth it with the amount of times I go and the photographs I've taken!
This is my album, sorted by the most recent first (the ones at the end are bad, I was just beginning the photography hobby!): My NYBG pictures
I like getting there first thing in the morning, which we can do if there aren't many outside light displays to see. How did the kids like it? Was it worth the time to get over there? I brought my nephew to the Chihuly exhibit and it was ok, but he might get bored if there's only an hour's worth of stuff to do.
