NEW YORK CITY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED !
BLOOMBERG CLOSED NYC SCHOOLS !!!
I'm not a teacher- but figured I'd post since I'm up ! Now I hope my DD's district closes - or at least has a delayed opening- It's her 12th birthday.

I was pleasantly surprised- especially since Metro North is not running at the moment and I would have needed to be on the train in less than an hour!

I can't believe my district is still open! My son's teacher said if anything they'd have a 2 hour delay. They would be hardpressed to cancel school with the regents scheduled. Great except supposedly we have 14 inches

They just cancelled DD's district. There's a bunch more that just announced too. the roads are way too dangerous to be on them right now. DH is at work (in Queens) and he said there are stuck/abandoned cars everywhere- which is making it VERY difficult to plow. Bloomberg made the right call- let's hope LI schools follow suit!

This is my districts policy as well small Nassau district but most of the teachers live out in Suffolk.
We are closed. Got the call at 5:30.
Barb, can't believe my work district called before the home district.
It is a royal PITA with Regents exams/midterms going on but with 14" on the ground and lots of ice very few could get to the testing site on time... the test must start within a certain time window if given in other parts of the state.

NYC buses are suspended! DH can't get to work (takes express bus to NYC).
Roads here look impassable (NE Queens)

While I am excited about having the day off, it really screws up not having the Geometry regents. We run a 3 semester course and now I have no idea what we are going to do!
