Newark Airport

I've never been to Newark before, two questions:

1) has anyone ever used their long term parking? how long would you along for getting parked and to the terminal?

and

2) has anyone ever had to use mass transit or a car service to get to Newark Intl from NYC (during rush hour)? What or who do you recommend?

Getting to Newark Airport

I took the bus once from Penn Station and it was a breeze. It was midday so I don't know the timing for travel during rush hour but I would recommend it.

I've used their long term parking before (both onsite and offsite). I've also taken the train there from the city.

If you use regular long term parking - I would allow 10-15 minutes (to be safe) to get to the terminal (you have to wait for a shuttle and it depends on what terminal you are leaving from).

If you use economy long term parking - I would allow 20-25 minutes (you have to wait for a bus and drive to all of the terminals.

We use Avistar the most when we park there. I would also allow 10-15 minutes depending on when the bus leaves and what terminal you go in and out of (it's priced in between the regular and economy long term parking and they turn your car on for you).

As for public transportation - I definitely recommend the train! You can take a train directly there from Penn Station. The ride is pretty short and it connects directly with the monorail to all three terminals. I would allow 10-15 minutes for this connection as well.

Definitely go with Avistar. It is pretty reasonable and your car will be nice a toasty when you get back. You can print coupons from their website for discounts. There are 2 lots, I typically park in McClennan.
