Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
We are just starting the process of seeing a fertility specialist after 2yrs of trying. I'd appreciate recommendations on fertility clinics in Eastern Suffolk.
A link to all these acronyms would be great too....very confusing...
thanks!

Check the lingo link up top for the abbreviations...
As far as fertility clinics - I am using LI-IVF now and am happy with them...I had gone to RSNY and hated them...I've heard mixed reviews about East Coast...and I'm not sure if there are any others in Eastern Suffolk. Most clinics are in Western Nassau and Manhattan.

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
I highly second LI IVF, they have been around for almost 20 years, have great statistics and very nice staff. In eastern suffolk, they have an office in Port Jefferson. I saw Dr. kenigsberg, he can be very to the point, but I like that, I don't want anything sugarcoated. their website is www.liivf.com
Good Luck :)

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
i am a newbie too to all this RE stuff. What i found though is that you have to be comfortable to whomever you go to. Although lots of ladies on here liked NSUH i didnt, so I am going to see Dr Brenner for a consult. In my mind a dr can be brilliant at what he does, but if he lacks compassion or is to brisk I cant continue treatment with them. But everyone is different! good luck to whomever you go to!!!!

This is 100% true. You have to feel 125% comfortable or its not worth it because chances are your spending a lot of time there and a lot of it is very emotional and you do not need to add to it by not being as comfortable and trusting as possible with the Dr's you choose. Its worth traveling for.....

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
hi ladies - I'm also a newbie, and was wondering if RSNY is the same as RSofNY (which I'm assuming it is). My gyn has recommended RSofNY, and now I'm worried.

Yes it is the same thing. My gyno also recommended them, I went to three visits and left (we weren't TTCing then). When we were ready to TTC I started with a new practice.

yes it is. I was there for about 11 months. I felt I wasted 11 months of my life.
If you do a search on here for them you will see that 90% of us had very bad experiences there.
Not to say everyone did. I know two people who had babies through them. An IUI baby and an IVF baby , but the majority of us really were not treated as we should have been there.

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
Hmmm....what didn't you like about them? Was it just the demeanor of the doctors/staff? Or was it difficult to contact them with questions, for example? Or, even worse, do you think they're just not as good? I'd hate to not even try them if thats who my gyn recommended. On the other hand, I'd really rather not waste time and money if they're not likely to be successful.

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
You can see the success statistics on SARTs website, and RSOFNY statistics are not as good as the other clinics on LI

Good Luck!

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
I hated RSNY (aside from a misdiagnosis, they were unorganised). I am a patient of Dr Scholl at North Shore and although I haven;t graduated, I am confident in their procedure.
Just recently I got a 2nd opinion from SIRM and Cornell - I liked Cornell, but they offered very similar treatment as NSUH
We didn't mesh with SIRM, but did a lot of the additional tests they offer, just to rule them out

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
thanks for all the info! I think I'll have to discuss it with my gyn and let her know I'd feel more comfortable somewhere else.

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
I'm currently at East Coast but there are many things we are not happy about there. I know a few people who had success there and were happy with the doctors there, unfortunately my husband and I didn't expericence the same there. There is a lot of miscommunication in the office, the waits in the morning are extremely long, and it takes a long time for the doctor to get back to you to answer your questions (and when he finally does he doesn't answer all of them!) We have consults set up at the end of the month with North Shore-Dr. Chu, and LI-IVF- Dr. Brenner.

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
I went to RSofNY for ten months and was very unhappy. The waits were long, they did not do complete testing. I rarely saw my Dr. (SanRoman) and I had a couple of bad IUI experiences. I never went through IVF with them...and am now glad that I didn't.
I am now going to LI-IVF and seeing Dr. Kenigsberg. Although I haven't graduated yet, I did consult with Dr. Flisser at RMA in Garden City and spoke with Kreiner @ East Coast and Dr. Levine of SIRM in Westchester...none of them disagreed with my current treatment so I'm sticking with Dr. K. He is very matter of fact and has a strange bedside manner, but has been one of the most concerned and caring Drs. I've ever dealt with.

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
My BIGGEST complaint with RSNY was that they are very poorly organized. Be prepared for your IF tx to become a Part-time job if you go there.

Re: Newbie - Fertility Clinic Recommendations
I went to rsofny--however its abbreviated and loved loved it. I was treated great--(I went to stonybrook) they bent over backwards for me. The nurses rocked and I became friends with one when she agreed to come and give me my shots. She was great. I graduated with twins.
I see alot of unhappiness with them but I went to stonybrook and loved it.
