Newbie here
Hi ladies my name is lisa, I found out on 2/22 at 8wks 6 days my pregnancy was coming to an end. The baby didn't have a heartbeat. I was measuring 3 days ahead and the sono tech and doctor said it looked very recent the heartbeat stopped. I waited a whole week until I had another sono. DH and I knew that I was having a miscarriage.
I went for a D & C on 3/3 and landed myself in the ER that same night from constant throwing up and Diarhearr. The cramping was hurting so bad.
I have a beautiful little girl who will be 1 on March 25th. I truly believe she helped me begin my healing process. Both my sisters' went through a M/C but can't remember how long they were bleeding for. Talking to both of them has helped a great deal. I am not ready to start TTC again at the moment.
Sorry TMI but I have still been bleeding and its been 11 days since my D & C. It started out light and now its like an actual PD cycle. Have any of you ladies bled this long?
Does anyone know what the earliest they would test to find the actual cause of a M/C.
Thank you for letting me share my story.

Re: Newbie here
I had a DNC on jan 15th. they did the genetic testing when they did the DNC. Is that what you mean? if so, they would have to know to test before the do the DNC so they can be prepared to do the genetic testing. It takes 6 to 8 weeks for the results to come. I just received my results less than a week ago. I'm glad I tested though my results aren't what I thought they would be.
All in all i had INTENSE cramping for a full 10 days after the DNC. I do mean intense! each day the cramps were different than the last and even one day I had what I can only explain as contractions, which I timed and were coming every 2 minutes!!!! I was told I would have NO cramping after 24 hours. but have also come to terms with the fact that I had someone of a crap doctor.
I bled for about 2 weeks or more.. but it was light the whole time. I didn't have period like bleeding. there were clots but again.. not heavy heavy period like flow. There are guidelines on how much bleeding is normal and when to be concerned. I forget the exact timing but it was something like if you fill a pad in an hour.. it could even be up to 4 hours. I can't remember. I would suggest strongly to call your doctor about the type of bleeding that is going on. I'm not a doctor and def not even close to one.. but the fact that it turned into a period seems odd to me. I don't think that's how it's supposed to happen with a DNC because they should have "sucked" most of the blood out. They can't get it all for safety reasons and thus you bleed for a bit afterwards... but it shouldn't be like a regular MC at home bleeding or like a period. At least I was told that.
i'm sooo sorry for what you are going through. It's good that you get strength from your daughter to help you this difficult time. its such a traumatic and awful experience.

Re: Newbie here
Thank you ladies, I am sorry both of you ladies are going through one as well. My mom feels so bad because she had 6 kids and never had one. I explain to her it does happen and it sucks. And what I need is strength and support from my family to help the healing process.
the bleeding isnt too bad, I don't need to change the pad within and hour and no clotting at all except for alittle the first day. I was just curious if any of you ladies bled that long.
I thought I was to early to test to find the reason. Thank you again.

No they test at the time of the DNC so if you didn't have a test done at that time then it's too late to test for genetic results. Or that is at least my understanding of it... I don't think they can do any sort of testing like that after the fact.
My mother was the same way. She had 3 kids and said there were no MC's in our family that she knew of so she never thought it would be a possibility. she was shocked.

Re: Newbie here
You are a little farther along in the process than me. I had my DNC 9 days ago on March 6th. I am still bleeding...not heavily...but not "spotting" either. I had no bleeding or pain for 3 days after the procedure...then Wednesday I started getting bad cramps and some blood. Thursday it was like the floodgates opened up because the cramps were WICKED and I could feel the blood gush out every few minutes. I rushed to the bathroom and a bunch of clots came out and I had alot of blood in the toilet. after that majot episode It's deffinately mellowed out and I have had moderate bleeding one day and nothing the next and then moderate again.

I'm so sorry for your loss I think the hardest part about the whole process is that there is no real NORM...everyone will have a different experience and its the worst b/c all we want are answers. I hope you get yours. As far as testing I think it takes a few weeks to get back results if they tested from your D&C

You're in my prayers! I didn't have a DNC but I bled for 11 days w/ a natural miscarriage. I think you bleed longer with a DNC

Re: Newbie here
I am sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience the night of DNC with the really bad cramping and going to the bathroom. I hope you are feeling better. I had the procedure almost 2 weeks ago so I know how you feel.

Re: Newbie here
thank you, I am bleeding on and off. The cramping went away TG my ob said some of the cramping could be from my uterus going down. I felt like it was contractions when I was in labor with DD.
