newborn and spitting up
my daughter is only 10 days old. She is spitting up so much. It seems painful - i feel bad. My milk supply is coming in very well. she only takes off of one side and i pump the other. Within 5 minutes i pump 4 ounces. Do you think that she is getting too much milk? i try to burp her often but she doesn't really burp very well. Any suggestions or anyone go through this?

Re: newborn and spitting up
My DD spits up a lot as well and the doctor said as long as she was gaining weight, that she was fine. She is formula fed though and I've tried a few different kinds.
We also burp her 1/2 way through the bottle and feed her in almost a sitting up position. This seems to help a little.
When in doubt, speak to your doctor.

Re: newborn and spitting up
Your let down may be too much for her right now.
Definitely speak with your dr or a LC for some tips but I was advised to lean back - let the resistance to gravity assist in slowing down the flow and to burp half way through.

The milk may be coming out to fast for her.....you could try pumping a little first before feeding if she isn't screaming!
