Newborn diapers
I received a couple of packs (40) for my shower...one brand is Playskool and the other Baby's First Years (BRU brand I think)...do you think I should maybe pick up a pack of pampers or just use these? Would about 80 be enough until they move until the next stage?
Thank you.

Re: Newborn diapers
It depends on the size of your baby. My DD was 7 lbs. She is 5 weeks old now and I just moved her into size 1 yesterday. I would wait and see.

Re: Newborn diapers
We can't wait to have you here Sylvia
Listen, I don't think the feedback on either of those diapers are really very good, I know one mommy said the playskool ones gave her DC a rash and the others leak I think.
We only had one package of Newborn swadders when we came home, they hospital gave us a bunch of 1's, but they were too big, so my mom went out and bought more. Some people find their DC never wears NB, but we used them. So, I'd maybe go get a package of NBs and a package of 1's and then go from there

Awww thank you Kate I can't wait either!
Thats what Im afraid of...that they may not be the best quality for a little sensitive newborn tush...I think Im going to pick up a pack of swaddlers just in case and use those first...maybe I can alternate and throw in the playskool or the other one to see how he reacts to them.

Re: Newborn diapers
DS was 7Lbs 13 oz and outgrew them in just a few days after I came home. I would not stock too much of them honestly.

Re: Newborn diapers
My ds used newborn diapers for about a week but he kept leaking through his diaper. We switched to size 1 and gave the newborn diapers away. Ds was 6 lbs 11 oz at birth. For the few days we were in the hospital, he was in size 1...a little big but they worked!

Re: Newborn diapers
My DD was 8lbs and she never wore newborn size. She wore size 1 in the hospital. I would wait and see you can always return them and get the next size.

Re: Newborn diapers
DD was 7lbs 14 oz & wore NB for maybe a week. Yet in the hospital they started her in 1's & they were fine from the start.

Re: Newborn diapers
I am in the minority here, DS was 8 pounds, 8 ounces when he was born and we just moved to size ones this past week at 5 weeks old. The NB's still fit, but we didn't have anymore so we just started to use the size 1's. We used the Huggies NB's...not sure if the brand matters.

Re: Newborn diapers
Cailen wore NB and even some preemei diapers for the 1st 2 weeks, and continued to wear NB until I would have to say 6 wks, then moved on to 1's until he was 10 weeks old.

Re: Newborn diapers
Steven never fit in NB diapers. I would definately not stock up
Also, I would return the ones you have, if possible, and buy one package of swaddlers. IMO, when they are first born they are sooooo sensitive, you want to stick with a diaper and whipes that you know will not be allergenic. As they get slightly older, go with other stuff if you want or can. But in the beginning you really have to watch.

Re: Newborn diapers
we used newborn for maybe 3 weeks tops, so if you want to buy some diapers (you have coupons or something for example) I would buy 1's...

Re: Newborn diapers
I agree with all of the PP that said not to stock up too much... size ones start at 8 lbs (I think) and depending on how big your baby is, you might not need them at all.
I don't know about those brands though... you might want to keep one and return the other for the next size up.

Re: Newborn diapers
I wouldn't buy any more new newborn diapers because depending on how big your baby is a birth you might not use them. All 3 of my boys came home from the hospital in size 1. (9lbs, 8.3lbs, & 8.2lbs)
