Newborn feeding question
DD is 4 weeks old. Should I wake her for feedings still at this point? Or should I let her wake on her own to eat. Normally she wakes between 3 & 4 hours so I don't have to wake her. But today she seems to be sleeping 5 + hours. Is this too long? Should I wake her and give her a bottle?

Its tough...I don't think I ever woke him for a feeding at 4 weeks.

Re: Newborn feeding question
It is now 5 hours since her last feeding...I am not sure if I should get her up. My mommy instincts are not kicking in on this one...

I always kept them on a schedule early on. It wasn't until they would stretch it out overnight that I wouldn't wake them.

Re: Newborn feeding question
The nurses at the hospital said to always wake them, but then my ped. said never wake a sleeping baby; they'll wake when they get hungry.

Re: Newborn feeding question
I never woke my kids to eat. I think 4 weeks is old enough to let them go a longer stretch without eating if they are sleeping.

Re: Newborn feeding question
I never woke DS to eat, I would feed him when he was ready to eat. He eats every 2 hours now and he is 2 months old. He sleeps during the night and wakes once. Unless she goes for hours all day without eating I would just feed her on demand, she'll eventually get into a pattern.
