newborn question and bleeding in mouth

My DS is 11 weeks and today during tummy time..his mouth had blood on it. i freaked out and went to the doctor. she said that his nose was stuffed and dry and that could cause a nose bleed that comes out of the mouth since they spend a lot of time laying down. Has anyone ever heard of this?? TIA

DS was doing tummy time a few weeks ago, turning his head back and forth on a blanket. All of a sudden, I noticed specks of blood under his face. He had cut his nose with his finger nail. I felt so bad. But he didnt cry or anything.

ryan wasnt crying either and after i wiped it up he didnt have any more but it still made me nervous...i thought maybe he put his hand in his mouth and cut it too b/c he has been doing that lately.

and no i am not breastfeeding.
