newborn size diaper
How many newborn size diapers should I buy? I know some babies are too big for them or out grow them really quick but I want to have some. What would you ladies recommend?

Re: newborn size diaper
I had zero at home when DD was born. A friend left them on my front porch for me when we arrived home from the hospital when I texted her after birth. I used that box of 94 and a second box of the same, but DD was small and lost a whole lb the first week. Can you just play it by ear? Rather than waste $ on nbs, get size 1s. Or get one small package maybe, like 36 count if you'd rather have some on hand? My baby was 7 lbs 2 oz at birth.

Re: newborn size diaper
I would get a very small package and keep the receipt. That way you can exchange if necessary. My DS outgrew them in about 4 days. I have all these leftovers because my diaper cake was made with them. Luckily I can pass them on to my sister when she has her baby in November!

Re: newborn size diaper
I think it depends on your child.
My daughter will be three weeks old on Sunday and is still in NB size (she was 8 lbs at birth)
The size ones were waaaaay too big even when folded down and every time she pooped it was coming out the sides!
I would maybe get the 96 pack since that has lasted a whopping 4 1/2 days in my house.

Re: newborn size diaper
I used 1 pkg that was given to me for my shower. DS #1 was born 8lbs 6ozs. After that pkg was done I used Size 1.

Re: newborn size diaper
I got 2 boxes of 96. I figure that will last me about 3 weeks or so. I can alway get more. I prefer the diaper to fit than to be too big especially when I am changing them every 2 hours or so.

Re: newborn size diaper
I had one big box and ended up buying another. I would definitely just buy one big box, keep the receipt, and if DC is on the bigger side, exchange. You will get some diapers from the hospital to get you through the day before you exchange.

Re: newborn size diaper
and here I am afraid to buy size 1!!! LOL - I have 2s waiting...LOL
My two kids were born 10+, so there was no use for NB for me (DD is measuring big too)
My friend had a baby that was just under 4 pounds and when she asked why they were using 1s in the hospital, they said they save the NBs for the really small premies.

Re: newborn size diaper
We used the NB size for about a month with DD but she lost a lot of weight the first two weeks and then it took a little while to gain it back...I know that a lot of people dont even really use the NB size so I would just have one package on hand...
