Newborn skin????
Did your baby have flaky skin the first few weeks of life? DD has these dry patches on her head, hands and feet. It is not red or irritated, just flaky. I gave her a sponge bath yesterday and used Johnson's head to toe baby wash. I have been using this all along and her skin seems dry. Could it be from the baby wash? What do use to keep your baby's skin hydrated? TIA

Re: Newborn skin????
Completely normal. First few layers of skin will be extremely dry, flaky as your baby's skin adjust to oxygen for the first time. I didn't put any cream on it since I knew it was the norm.

Thanks! Do you know when the dryness will go away? Is it after a few weeks? TIA

Re: Newborn skin????
My guess would be about 6-8 weeks to her skin to acclimate.

Yep Katie has the same thing. I put a tiny tiny bit of lotion on her - ped said it was OK - and it helps.

Re: Newborn skin????
Bella's hands peeled for weeks after she was born no matter how much lotion we put on...doc said it was totally normal.
