Is it normal for a 6 week old baby not to have smiled yet? I am so waiting for this and talked to a few friends that said it happened sooner with their babies....he pseudo smiles but only when hehas gas....

Re: newborn smiling??
I was told that the early smiles are gas-I don't know believe what you want on that but give the baby a chance to develop- it is still early. You will see when you least expect it you will get a BIG one and it will melt your heart!

Re: newborn smiling??
We had to wait about 8 or so weeks for DD to smile. She still didn't do it regularly after that, took about another week or so.

Re: newborn smiling??
totally normal. DS#1 was early, so when DS#2 was 7 weeks without a smile, I got worried. It happened in the ped office, when i was telling him my concern and hasn't stopped since!

Re: newborn smiling??
At 8 weeks DS is smiling all the time! At 6 weeks it was inconsistent
I read somewhere that only 50% of kids will really smile at 6 weeks. So I think its normal if they dont.
