Newborn spitting up
I have been reading on the internet and searching on this website on previous posts, but I am about to call the ped-but he is a new ped and I would rather ask BTDT----My one month old is spitting up with every feeding now. It has been about two weeks where he started and there were three instances of more "projectile" where it crossed my lap or hit the couch behind me WHat constitutes projectile or when to change formula???TIA

Re: Newborn spitting up
is it bothering your baby or is it just a nuisance? "Projectile" is literally across the room, hit the wall kind of spitting up. Both my kids spit up alot and it would hit the floor or couch behind me with every feeding for 6 months but it wasn't projectile per se. If its not bothering them they usually say its a laundry problem and not a health problem. But believe me, as a first time mom I took my DD to the ped very often b/c I was convinced it wasn't normal. Turns out it is. HTH!!

Same here and she grew out of it at 6 months. I used to get so annoyed at people saying "she needs special formula...take her to the doctor...".

Re: Newborn spitting up
I have a 5 week old and she spits up a few times a day. Her nurse said try not to put her flat until 20 mins after a feeding and upright in a bobby lounger or something that keeps her elevated.

Re: Newborn spitting up
Thank you all, I had a feeling it wasn't very alarming, but my first son NEVER spit up, I barely even put a bib on him because he didn't miss a drop! I was leaning towards waiting till his first doctor's visit to ask. This is a new ped for us, so I can kind of feel him out. i.e. if he tells me its norm or if the baby needs zantac, etc. will let me know how he practices.

this sounds good.. and also make sure to burp during feedings.. it could just be that the baby is eating a bit more than they can hold down and when he/she needs to burp then all the sudden boom it comes back up. good luck
