Newborn toenails...

Newborn toenails...

DDs toenails (big toe) is scooped, like a spoon and the bottom is still attached to her skin so I can't cut it....I'm a little worried that it's not flat-anyone else's DC have this?? Chat Icon

my DD doesnt have but, her tonails are still very short, I had my sis cut her fingernails but at 7wks her toenails dont grow fast.

Why not file the toenails ?

Maybe because she was early? (37 weeks) I can try but the bottoms are still attached to her skin Chat Icon

As newborns both my daughters toes are like this. I have to say it doesn't stay like that forever, it will flatten out. Don't worry about cutting them yet. Chat Icon Chat Icon

My nephews were like that too. My sister got yelled at by the ped for not cutting them. She was told that it is normal for them to kind of grow over and around the toe, but you have to separate the nail from the skin and cut it. They said it didn't hurt. She showed my sister how to just kind of stick her nail between the toenail and the skin and "lift" it. It didn't hurt my nephew at all, and then you could see how long the nails were. After that, I knew for Marron, so I did it to her when she was younger, and have had no problems.
