Newborns and gas

DS will be 4 weeks tomorrow and he is terribly gassy. His farts STINK really, really bad.

I am "breastfeeding" but I have such low milk production that I supplement with 3 oz of gentlease after each feeding (I am already working with a LC and it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference)

Does this seem normal to you? Are all newborns gassy? He usually isn't in pain, but the smell seems out of the ordinary to me!

Totally normal. My DS is on Gentlease too and I think it does make them extra stinky, but not painful. My DS had painful gas on Similac and that wasn't good, but stinky is okChat Icon

DS was was very gassy in the beginning. I began using Dr Brown Bottles and giving him Myiclon drops at every feeding....no more gas issues.

Re: Newborns and gas

newborns cannot digest well yet, it takes up to 12 weeks to just settle into their new tummies. If hes not a screaming banshee over it, then no worries.
