i had a friend live here for a little while while she was waiting for apt. to come through. she would give me the cash and i would pay it with my card. (ONE TIME PAYMENTS) now becasue i have no clue where she dissapared to they took it out of my account.

Did you sign up for newsday or did you just pay it 1 time for your friend?

If its in her name then you need to call them and tell them you NEVER approved this. It was a one time payment using your card. As long as your name is not on this subscription, they cant charge you.

i think what she means is that newsday is charging her account for service that she doesn't want anymore.
janet -check the paperwork or website and see if it states that your account will be charged every month unless you cancel.
here is the info to call re: home delivery
-Ask for a subscription, temporarily stop service or ask about billing, call (631) 843-2000.

That seems VERY odd to me. I would also call up your bank and have them investigate on your behalf. I wouldn't feel comfortable sending Newsday my personal info, you know?

huh?  that doesn't make sense.
understandable for them to need to verify your address, the name of the bank and perhaps even the last 4 digits of the debit card but they most certainly do not have the right to ask you to provide them with a copy of your bank statement and debit card info.
are they asking to verify the billing charges?

huh? that doesn't make sense.

they now want proof that becaus eof this charge (who they claim was charged on the 24 and did not post to my account till the 27) so that is what i sent them to show you used it as a cc not a debit card and because all my cc where on hold they cause it to go out of a + into a neg

i am now waiting for a call back again... they at first wanted to only give me back the 100 that they took and i sad oh no no no you will pay off my bounce out fee's that you caused and she went to put on her suppervisior and then she came back on and said ok we are willing to work with you but you need now to send proof that it started the down spiral. tapping my foot waiting i NEED A DRINK

Why didn't you cancel the subscription? Weren't you still getting the paper every day?
i did. the sent it everyday and i would leave it with a note for the paper guy and still he would drop it off. i called 3 times and still they did not stop it. the all ended up in the garbage.
