Re: news about "15000" home buyer tax credit
Ok this seems alot more reasonable, making it for first time home buyers and reducing the amount. The 15K sounded good on paper but as soon as they opened it up to EVERYONE it was welcoming people who already had homes to put theirs on the market further flooding it just to get the credit, plus new home builders were advertising tax credit specials to entice even more people to buy NEW. It was a formula for failure.

Ok, this is more reasonable. I was having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that I was getting a 7500 tax credit I had to pay back, and someone else was getting 15k free and clear.

Re: news about "15000" home buyer tax credit
I read a ton of different financial blogs and nobody really knows for the sure the exact details behind this plan yet. It seems like every article posted says something slightly different.
One thing I did hear is that there will be income limits to this credit. If you make over 150k (or 75k for singles), I wouldn't expect to get the entire 8000, and if you make over 170-180k, you probably won't get anything at all. But even this is speculation.
Did anyone else catch the other little tidbit about the stimulus plan? Apparently they are letting you exempt sales tax on a new car purchase (but not loan interest).

wasn't the sales tax thing put in a few years ago under Bush? itemize sales tax or state income tax - and most of us pick income tax.
