News I received at work
I've been teaching K for three years now. I knew I would be bumped for next year due to low enrollment. I was told today that I will be teaching third grade. The good news is that I will be able to stay in my building and the people on the 3rd grade level are very nice. I'm also glad that I know this far in advance. The bad news is learning a whole new curriculum. I know it will just take some getting used to. September will run more smoothly that's for sure. Anyone that has experience with Kindergarten knows exactly what I mean! Thanks for listening!

My sister teaches kindergarten. They are adorable but a hand full. Best of luck learning the curriculum - it took her a few months but she loves it! Hope you will too

I actually had a 3rd grade leave replacement for about 2 months when I was subbing and I really liked it. Initially I was petrified to teach Kindergarten, but I got used to it. Now I am so comfortable with the little ones, but I know it will just take time to adjust.

Re: News I received at work
i started out student teaching in 3rd grade, and then went to kindergarten... it was such a difference!
I'm sure it'll take some time to adjust, but hopefully it'll work out for the best!
I'm hoping to get a 3rd grade position this year (i currently teach 5th) so I may be joining you in unchartered territory

Re: News I received at work
I teach kindergarten also- just think, in third grade you won't have to worry about kids crying the first week(s) and they already know how to tie their shoes!

I hear ya on that! It can be very crazy those first couple of weeks. One of my co-workers was joking around once and said, Kindergarten in September is as close to he** on earth you could possibly get. That phrase has always stuck with me.
