Nice mid Suffolk restaurant for birthday
I am taking my mom out to dinner for her birthday. My husband has tickets somewhere with my dad, so it is the two of us. Me and DH dine out a lot, but looking for something special in mid Suffolk to take mom.

Mannino's is great - they have a location in Smithtown (my favorite), one in Oakdale, and another in Commack.
We love the Chopshop in Smithtown as well.
I have also always liked the Garden Grill and Bella Vita (Smithtown and St. James).
La Famiglia in Smithtown is very good - family style.
We love Tellers in West Islip for steak.
21 Main in West Sayville is excellent.

Take a look at Garden Grille in Smithtown also - really pretty place and great food. Perfect for a mother/daughter dinner - very Victorian decor definitely not somewhere I would go with DH for dinner
