Nice restaurants on LI or in NYC?
Can you recommend one? My parents anniversary is coming up, and we would like to take them to a nice restaurant. Also, if you could tell me what kind of restaurant it is, I would appreciate it. THanks!

not sure where you or they live, but IMO, 21 Main is the perfect place to celebrate an occasion!! it's a steak house (like Ruth's Chris) but it has an intimate atmosphere and the food & service are 1st class! DH and I go there about 3-4x a year and just LOVE IT!

Re: Nice restaurants on LI or in NYC?
The best steak house in NYC imo is Smith and Wollensky. I went once to Peter Luger's in Brooklyn and got sick. S&W is awesome! Get the porterhouse with a nice cabernet savignon and you're in heaven!
Italian places in NYC---it's not fancy but there is a place in the theatre district called Don Giovanni's. It is a REAL NYC place. Casual with amazing food. It's between 8th and 9th and I think its on like 44th or 45th street. There is a also another place that is great called Il Bigatto. It is in Alaphabet City but another non-fancy place that only New Yorkers would know. No tourists there.
On LI--Il Classico in Massapequa on Merrick Road is awesome northern Italian cuisine. That is a more upscale place but prices are not outrageous. Plus, its not rushed so you would enjoy like a three-hour dinner.
Good luck

CraftSteak !!! We just went there last night and it was awesome. It's on 10th avenue in NYC. It's mainly steak but some seafood and a nice mix of different dishes. It is my new fave restaurant and I can 't wait to go back.

Louis & Marxx is pretty good (its a new steakhouse where Arthur Avenue used to be). It's on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow.
Let's just say I enjoyed my $16 Steak Au Proive special at Louis & Marxx way more than my $40 steak at Tellers.
