I really really wanted him
My son's birthday is April 28 and we could only get a place for sometime in May (I know I probably should have booked it sooner -- cause of the busy time of the year Communions!)
vent over, but still sad.
other ideas welcomed

Oh that is too bad, because he is so so good. I had him for my son's 4th birthday.

Why not hire a children's entertainment company...they are great and will do what you want (puppet shows, character visits, magic, balloon animals, face painting, cotton candy, etc.)
I have two personal favorites:
