Nicole Richie Seeks Help for Weight Issues
Nicole Richie is seeking treatment for what her rep describes as an inability to put on weight.
"Nicole Richie has decided to undergo diagnostic treatment to determine why she's not been putting on any weight," her rep tells PEOPLE in a statement. "She is working with a team of doctors and specialists whose focus is nutrition. It is important to Nicole that she achieves this goal in a healthy way as this is not a treatment for an eating disorder."
Richie's thinness has been the subject of much debate – which she addressed in May when she told Vanity Fair magazine, "I know I'm too thin right now. I'm not happy with the way I look right now." She also said at the time that she was consulting with a nutritionist and a doctor, but blamed her weight loss in part on the breakup with her then-fiance, Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein.
"She's tired of everyone saying you don't eat, because she does," a source close to Richie tells PEOPLE. "She wants to gain weight. It wasn't anyone saying you have to go do this – it wasn't an intervention. It was her saying I'm tired of people saying this about me, I'm going to go get some tests. It was a personal decision."
Richie, 25, is starring in the fifth season of The Simple Life and will resume filming, as scheduled, in mid-November.

they could see if her thyroid is working properly. I know someone who is super thin but eats TONS because she has a hyper active thyroid.

I think the only thing that's hyperactive is her nose. She needs to stop snorting...she should be OK after that.

It's about time, good God! I honestly thought that she would die soon. Say what you want about lack of talent, being spoiled etc., she's a human being a I hope she gets the help that she needs.

i still think she has an eating disorder she just doesn't think she does. .
yea..so weird that she suddenly cant put on weight yet she was a full figure girl a few yrs ago.

Maybe she eats, but I think she is doing something to purge - whether it be vomiting or laxatives!

I saw it last night on the news... they said she is seaking help since she can't gain weight. I was  because she was not like this a couple of years ago. So what is different?

here's how you solve your problem.
ready?
go to a restaurant. you're rich, go anywhere you want.
order anythign off the menu. the world is your oyster. even order oysters, i dont care.
when the watier brings it to you - you pick up that weird utensil us normal folk call a FORK.
you take that fork and poke the mystery substance (aka FOOD) with the fork.
open your mouth - lift fork - put food in.
close mouth. move your teeth up and down (its called chewing, ever heard?)
then swallow.
viola! you have just eaten something.
now repeat the process until you have a sensation in your stomach that you cant eat another bite. its called being full.
