Re: Nightlight
I have never heard of that either.
I keep the ceiling light in his room on a dimmer, really low.

Re: Nightlight
I don't use a nightlight, but I've never heard of that.
We tried it when DD was having bad separation anxiety and it just made the nighttime wakings worse.

Re: Nightlight
DD has has a night light in her bedroom since shes has been sleeping in a crib at night on her own (4months) she is now going to be 2 years old...i think it helps to have it in there #1 so i dont fall and bust my @!! in the middle of the night when i check on her, and #2 because its not so dark in there and DD can see whats around her while trying to fall asleep (she talks to her stuffed animal kitty cat before falling asleep) ive never heard of the glassed eye thing...i dont think the kids stare into it or anything to hurt their eyes. i have a very dim night light in there and never had any problems with it. hope this helps!

Re: Nightlight
no nightlight here
but I have heard that, or something like it. Something about how the eyes do not get a chance to fully adjust to the dark. Can't remember where I read/heard it....

Re: Nightlight
DC have lights on in the hall outside their rooms, but not in their rooms.
I grew up with a nightlight for several years, and I'm fine. When your eyes are closed, it's dark... During the summer months, if DC goes to bed by 8, it's still light out, so technically, they have a light on in their room. Same goes for naps. If nightlights affected kids eyes, every single child would have some degree of this problem.
I was just thinking, even though we don't have nightlights, we do have LEDs on the monitor, so they could technically stare at that light.... but they don't.

found something, this is from 1999, I have heard it more recently though because I definitely wasn't paying attention to this back then
Night Lights may lead to near sightedness

Re: Nightlight
We don't have nightlights in their rooms. We also close their doors so they don't get any light in there.

Re: Nightlight
I have a nightlight in DS's room but it is behind the rocking chair so some light gets through but not much. I mostly have it so when I go in there in the middle of the night I can see what I'm doing without turning on his light.

Re: Nightlight
We already have a nightlight in there behind where the crib will go but it's mostly because I am clumsy and don't want to have any problems.
