nighttime cough in under 2-year old

DD has had a mild cough for over a month. The past week it has been waking her up numerous times a night and she has a tough time falling back to sleep. Poor girl keeps coughing in her sleep.

Ped. recommended 1/4 teaspoon of adult dimetapp at night. I don't know if I feel comfortable giving her that. I rarely even give her infant Tylenol. With all the recalls, is there anything else I can do for her? I have the humidifier on. Does anyone use Vicks Vaporub or something else for a nighttime cough?

Some other moms on here recently recommended vicks vapo rub on the bottoms of their feet for a cough. Apparently it worked for more than a few people. HTH!

hannah has had a cough at night since september. after 2 rounds of antibiotics, which did nothing, the doc suggest OTC meds, which also did nothing but make her drowsy and irritable. other than making environmental changes (humidifier, elevate head) there is really nothing else that can help.

Noah had a night time cough for a month, it turns out that he has childhood asthma. That nighttime cough is how it manifests itself. Its not a huge problem, he has some inhalers and Singulair, but he is fine. I would speak to your doctor if it carries on.
