Nighttime feedings
With my first, they told me in the hospital to wake her every 3-4 hours for nmighttime feedings. With Connor they said I don't have to. How many of you wake for nighttime feedings?

Re: Nighttime feedings
I feed baby G every 4 hours at night, and every 2 1/2 during the day.

Re: Nighttime feedings
The ped told us to wake him if he went longer than 5 hours (unfortunately that never happened). In the beginning I would wake after 4 hours but since he never lost weight (has only gained) I stopped doing that. I let him sleep - night and day until he wakes. Not sure if it's right or wrong.

I never woke him for feedings.
ETS: If they are hungry, they will wake up.

I dont think I will wake him no matter how long he goes. He will wake when hes hungry.
During the day though I try to stick to a schedule so it doesnt make the night crazy....

Re: Nighttime feedings
Thanks ladies! I figured that letting him sleep was okay, but just wanted to make sure!

Re: Nighttime feedings
I think you only need to wake them if you are breastfeeding so your supply doesn't go down.
Of course I let her sleep and that was what happened.

Thats what we do. Now, at almost 3 months my DS is on a great schedule. He eats an 8oz bottle around 8am, depending on when he wakes up and then at 12:30ish, 5ish and 10ish. After that he is in bed for the night. He goes down around 10:30 and wakes up between 7-8. He sort of made that schedule himself and I was worried that he wasn't eating enough but he is gaining great and the ped said to enjoy it! He said that DS is on the schedule most moms have to work months for..
Also, once he was 3 weeks old and gaining weight I stopped waking him at night and he slept about 6-7 hours since then. I think keeping a schdeuly during the day has really helped us.
