Nike + girls... need help!
so I finally got everything connected! I calibrated it by walking 0.25 miles and the calibrated again by running 0.25 miles. I did everything according to the instruction manual and I have a treadmil. Then I started a "basic workout" and ran 2 miles and fast-walked 0.25 miles to cool down. According to my treadmil thats 2.25 miles. BUT The final reading on my ipod says 2.12 miles. So how do I fix this? Do I recalibrate? What should I do differently next time? Its not a big difference for this short run, but on a longer run it would be noticeable.
ETA: How do I join LIF challenges?

Re: Nike + girls... need help!
I use the treadmill in the gym - and i find that some treadmills are off from the Nike+ and others arent - which i chalk up to the treadmill.
Treadmills are supposed to be calibrated too (the belt can slow down, etc) and i know the ones at ballys are probably NOT calibrated

Re: Nike + girls... need help!
Thanks... but even if the treadmill is off, I used the same one that I did the calibration with. So shouldn't it be the same? (I have my own treadmill)

Hmmmm I am not really sure what the problem is. After you work out it sometimes gives you the option to calibrate (I suppose if it's been long enough). I would just calibrate it every time it gives you that option until it gives you a reliable distance.

Re: Nike + girls... need help!
did you go a different pace than when you first callibrated? I find when I run on a treadmill and increase the speed, I do larger strides, rather than take more steps KWIM? could that influence it, since essentially it's working on the pounding of your feet?
no expert, I'm still waiting for mine

That might be the problem.
Today it was even worse. I walked 0.25, ran 2, and walked 0.25. Which equals 2.5. The ipod is reading 2.15. So it an even bigger gap then last time. Last time I ran at a 5 mph pace while today was 6-7mph. I calibrated at 5mph. I think I am going to recalibrate at a faster pace.

Re: Nike + girls... need help!
I had the same thing happen. I got so frustrated with it I never used it. I thought maybe it was because I dont wear Nike shoes and just had the sensor in a pouch on my shoe...I dunno..but I couldnt figure out how to fix it.

Re: Nike + girls... need help!
I know for me the treadmills in the gym are off. Definately. Because they are never calibrated (or hardley ever). AND, i did a race with my friend and it was 4 miles and we both had 4.15 on ours. She doesn't have Nike+, she has a pedometer.
Also, on the treadmill...let's say you have it at 6 mph. Sometimes you are actually going faster than that and the belt speeds up. the reason I know this is because at some of the treads at my gym, if you go faster, the number on the tread chages (let's say to 6.3 or whatever you are running). So if your tread doesn't change the number, but your actually going faster that could be it too. Does that make sense? Bottom line is that I would say the Nike + is more accurate than the tread.

Re: Nike + girls... need help!
I just got mine and am having the same issue. It's .08 off each mile, which doesn't seem awful, but that's 1/4 mile every 3 miles! 1/2 for every 6!
Next week, I'm going to go to the track for a speed workout and will try to calibrate on the track - can't get more accurate than that!
