Nikolas' birth story 10-22-08
I was scheduled to have a c-section on the 23rd of October. Earlier on in the week, I was at the hospital because I thought my water broke. Turns out that I was wrong and I got sent home again. I was dealing with horrible contractions that were coming every 30-60 minutes since then.
I went to my pre-op appointment on the 22nd and I told the nurse that I was having contractions. They sent me over to the hospital and hooked me up to the monitor. I really wanted my scheduled doctors to deliver my baby the next day but who walks in the door...Dr. Levine...the same doctor that delivered Jared 3 years ago.  That made me feel better.
He says to me...well, you're contracting so let's have this baby NOW!
I was 
After getting my IV, I walked myself over to the OR and sat on the table. I leaned over and got my spinal...which totally didn't hurt at all. While they were prepping me, we were all joking around and discussing maternity thong underware. It was hilarious.
My anesthesiologist was wonderful. She kept me calm and well drugged. She also took pics for my dh when Nikolas was being born.
Everything happened so fast. I felt like Nikolas was born in about 30 minutes. I heard him cry and I started to cry. They brought him over and he was all bundled up...just so precious.
I was all stiched up and stapled in no time and wheeled over to recovery.
Afterwards I got wheeled up to my room and felt great! I got up out of bed that very night and walked around a bit.
My stay at Winthrop was wonderful. The nurses were so good and gave the best sponge bath (I didn't get that the last time I was at Winthrop). Whenever I was in pain and called the nurse's station they were there in a flash. Of course the food was yummy as well.
They asked me if I wanted to go home a day earlier and I told them no.
Take the extra day!! Why not? Someone takes care of the baby, feeds you and gives you meds when you need them!
The only thing I didn't like was the visiting hours. I wrote about how I didn't like people coming up to visit while the baby was in the room all day in the questionaire form that I got.
Other than that...a wonderful experience. Much better than my first c-section experience with Jared.

Nikolas Roger
7 pounds 9 ounces...21 1/2 inches
Born at 1:50pm.

Congratulations he is beautiful and you look wonderful! I love the pic with Jared too!
Just out of curiosity, why wasn't your DH there? My DH will miss the birth of DS (due to military training) and I was wondering if you had someone else there with you?

Is that Dr. Levine from Long Island Womens Practice on Mineola Blvd?
He delivered my DD also!! He was great.

Oh he was there...he was the one who was taking the photos.
